I really couldn't understand, no one around her smokes, neither does she do bad deeds, so how can someone so kind, caring and giving get this damned disease?
This was most probably the most unfair thing I have ever heard.
Why did my Aunt get Lung cancer?
Back then when there were family complications in my own family,
she took me and my siblings in when we had nowhere to go. There were no
questions asked and there was not even a single sign of hesitation. She took care of
us like we were her own, never once made us feel unwelcomed or unloved. She projected good morals that me and my siblings took on, which was a blessing considering the dysfunctional family we came from.
When I heard the news, all I could think about was the all the good she was in my life. Though she is not my birth mother, but she plays the role of a mom even better than my own. So much so that, I have secretly regarded her as my mom. (I have never told her that) I love and respect her so much that I write mothers' day cards and letters to her every year... but I never gave it to her... because ultimately, I'm not her daughter and I have no right to do so.
She was a heroine to me and my siblings, and I believe, to many others as well. It's been a few years ever since she was first diagnosed with cancer, and have bravely fought the illness. She is better now, and I hope she stays healthy forever. Love ya Aunt :)
